Track a stolen laptop with Prey.

Prey can only track devices that have the software installed prior to it's loss. Prey runs in the background without a thief knowing it is running. One a computer or mobile device is stolen activate prey via online web interface. The control panel allows you to control what type of information is available. Prey can use GPS or the nearest Wi-Fi to geolocate the internet connection. The webcam can be activated to take a picture of the thief.

1. Download Prey from CBPC. click here

2. Run the application

3. When prompted select  "new user"

This creates a user account on computer with no administrative privileges or password.

* Make sure to set a secure password on your primary account to protect your data!

4. Prey is managed by a web based console. http://preyproject.com

Should something happen to your laptop you can login to control panel at preyproject.com to activate your laptop.
